Abstract

The new frame offered by European Higher Education Area has led to changes in the new design and approach to curricula as is the case of Social Work.In this context, the article presented here, reflects the experience of implementing the Service Learning Methodology (SLM) in external practices of the Degree in Social Work. With this methodology, the meaning of "learning skills" is refocused as the main tool. Service Learning is a method that aims to teach learning, and learning by doing, as a consequence the student involvement is higher than before, recovering his own role, somewhat lost.External practices of Social Work degree with SLM represent a challenge for all those involved in the process, social organizations, students and the university. External practices are excellent places for active citizenship training where academic quality and accountability social will converge. The article presents the times and stages through which it has passed the start-up, as well as some of the preliminary conclusions that have been reached after the first students have finished the practices.
