About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The journal Revista Historia Autónoma is a biannual publication on historical research, where every science related to History has a place.
The Revista Historia Autónoma occupies its own scientific-related space in the historiography thought, by means of the opening to new approaches, ways of research, and the contribution to the constant renewal of the historical discipline. The journal maintains its links to the present society, answering to those needs and demands of the public closely related to History.
In this sense, the Revista Historia Autónoma focuses on a public with a research profile within the field of Humanities and Social Sciences, especially, to all those historical specialists regardless of their area of knowledge. This publication bets for interdisciplinarity and collective work of all those specialists of the historical studies.
Each number of the journal will consist of a series of works of diverse nature: articles, bibliographical reviews, reports of academic meetings, interviews, etc. We want these numbers to be as open as possible, under the formula of a miscellany of works relating to different periods.
According to the parameters listed in the quality criteria of the journal, as the major indexes of impact required, all publications are subject to a strict quality control based on an external peer-review process.
The Revista Historia Autónoma is an open access journal. Adittionally, it does not require any payment to authors to publish their articles in it.
Peer Review Process
In the Revista Historia Autónoma we follow an evaluation process for all the research articles.
Firstly, the Editorial Board proceed to make a preliminary assessment of the text. The result should be issued within fifteen days of the reception.
If the Board approves the assessment, the peer-review process is the next step to follow. Therefore, the article is sent to two external experts who are responsible for the review of the article. They have a period of thirty calendar days to complete a report and proclaim their verdict, which must be reasoned and, if necessary, must be accompanied by proposals for improving the article. In case of a dissenting opinion, a third specialist must be taken into account; this reviewer will have another thirty days to complete the evaluation.
The result of the review will be notified to the author, along with an explanatory report. It may be suitable for publication, rejected or approved subject to the inclusion of amendments. In that case, the author must make the changes proposed within fifteen days; he or she will deliver a new version of the article which should be examined by the Editorial Board to verify that the changes have been modified.
From the Revista Historia Autónoma we guarantee the anonymity of the whole process of evaluation. The author of an article does not know the identity of the reviewers and, in the same way, the reviewers do not know the author of the text who has been assigned to them.
