Abstract

Political Elites and Legitimation in North Africa: the Connection between Domestic and International spheres', compiled by Beatriz Tomé-Alonso and Miguel Hernando de Larramendi, offers a comprehensive and multifaceted analysis of political dynamics in North Africa, highlighting the interplay between the domestic and international spheres in the search for and maintenance of power by political elites in the region.

The special issue is composed of a series of articles addressing different aspects across the Arab world, from Morocco to Libya. In the introductory article, the editors establish a solid conceptual foundation by highlighting the importance of the connection between the domestic and international spheres in analysing the legitimation strategies of political elites in these nations. This approach provides an essential analytical framework for understanding the issues at the centre of subsequent articles.
