Abstract

The establishment of the Republic of Turkey in 1923 brought with it profound social changes, particularly under the influence of Kemalism. This movement sought to create a new Turkish citizenship, within this renewed citizenship model women were used as a symbol of modernization. In the 21st century, with the advent of the AKP and Erdogan, there has been an ideological shift that has reshaped Turkish citizenship, particularly affecting the status of women. The works analyzed, "Creating the Desired Citizen", "Women and Public Space in Turkey" and "The Body Unburdened" highlight the evolution of citizen roles and the complex female identity in the Turkish public sphere.
