Social Participation as a Transforming Option for Citizenship Education

Abstract

In this article we present the results of the research Global and Local Citizenship and Education , carried out by a interdiscipline team of Deusto's University and the NGO Alboan, with a subsidy of the Basque Government. The principal aim was to analyze interesting offers of work concerning education and citizenship, from which there was generated a process of reflection and dialog by the actors involved in this field. The commitment to analyze the civil education, from the view of the experiences, was obeying in a worry for harmonizing the theory with the professional practice. Therefore, on the basis of an analysis of twelve studies of case, considered as good practices, there have been analyzed the challenges of the civil education from diverse experiences, of formal and not formal education, destined to different groups (children, adults, minorities).
