Abstract
Out of the five accepted meanings for equality given by the RAE (Spanish Royal Academy), the following “disposition of the intent of giving to each what he/she deserves” is the closest in meaning for equality applied to problems in the educational system. Investigators use it to protect low level socio-economic strata (NSE), as well as minorities.
It is this articles thesis that equality, in the sense of giving each student what he/she deserves, and above all, what is needed, must also be applied in a dimension not related to the NSE: aptitudes toward learning.
