Abstract

There is no doubt that the knowledge contributed by the School Effectiveness Research throughout the more than 40 years of this research tradition have contributed in a transcendental way to better understand how education works and to make decisions for its optimization. However, when we seek to delimit what the real contributions of these studies are, we face an arduous task. And not precisely because they are scarce or limited, quite the contrary, but because many of their findings have already become part of the "common culture" of education professionals and now it is extremely difficult for us to recognize their legitimate paternity. In spite of this, we will try to capture, in broad strokes, some of its most important contributions.
