Abstract
This paper sets out to review the early development of feminist film theory after the incorporation of psychoanalytic theory that was undertaken by Laura Mulvey's famous essay, “Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema”. The purpose of such a review is to evince the problematization of the category "woman" that both feminist film theory and practice carried out through the questioning of narration and of the language of representation. The ultimate goal is to show that such contributions somehow outlined the configuration of feminism itself as an unstable field of problematization.
