Abstract

The instruction of History is, at the moment, the subject of ample controversy within the Spanish society. The changes in the appreciation of History has had an influence on its teaching. The two main problems that arise when analysing the teaching of History are what to teach and how to do so. In this article, the author proposes the importance of not neglecting the two main bases of History: events and chronology. The author also puts some contents forward where the idea of Spain is included in a European context. The article also includes the idea of carrying out different "historical itineraries", starting with a very basic one in Primary Education. To conclude, the author includes some opinions regarding resources for teachers.
