Abstract

The current Chilean educational system reform poses challenges regarding teacher training. This reform intends to produce a democratic alternative to the authoritaristic reform carried out by the dictatorship in the eighties.
The teacher training policy materialises in the so-called Programa de Fortalecimiento Inicial de Docentes y Perfeccionamiento Fundamental de Profesores (Inicial and In-service training programme). In this paper, the author analyses the objetives and action plans of the programme and how it should suit the requirements of the aforementioned reform.
