CODE OF ETHICS AND BEST PRACTICES


Declaration of code of ethics and good practices


In accordance with the recommendations elaborated by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Secuencias. Revista de Historia del Cine establishes a set of rules that appeal to specific responsibilities at each stage of the editing and publication process.


RESPONSIBILITY OF THE AUTHORS


The content of the articles proposed for publication must come from original and unpublished research. Secuencias does not accept already published works or articles that are undergoing evaluation processes for publication in another journal or in any other media.


Likewise, authors must guarantee the reliability of the data contained in the text, that they are original and have not been distorted or invented. Authors agree to participate in the peer review process established by the journal and advertised on its website (https://revistas.uam.es/secuencias/about). The journal rejects any type of plagiarism, total or partial. Authors must make a correct use and acknowledgement of the sources used in the texts submitted. Plagiarism constitutes a serious breach of ethics and any article that makes irresponsible use of its sources will be considered a scientific fraud.


RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EDITORS


The editors of Secuencias have the obligation to ensure the quality of the material published and to be impartial in the management of the submitted works. Thus, they undertake to apply objective criteria for the analysis of the texts received, always avoiding any type of discrimination.

The members of the Editorial Team must keep the texts received confidential until they have been published, thus reserving all the information provided by the collaborators in them. Editors are prohibited from using unpublished material for personal or institutional benefit. Likewise, the editors are committed to the contributors' right of reply in case of negative opinion.
The Editorial Team guarantees the anonymity of the peer reviewers of the material received and commits to ensure that the internal and external evaluation process is fair and impartial.


It is the responsibility of the Editorial Team to report the results of the evaluation of submissions in a timely manner.

 

RESPONSIBILITY OF REVIEWERS

Reviewers agree to apply clear and objective criteria in their reviews, excluding any type of discrimination. All reviewers will submit to the journal's policy and the ethical statement of the publication.

The journal commits to disqualify any reviewer in case of suspicion of conflict of interest. There can be no direct relationship between an author and a reviewer, nor a recent professional collaboration between them. The reviewer must guarantee the impartiality and objectivity of the analysis. Reviewers must treat the material received as confidential. Thus, discussion of the work with third parties is not allowed.

Reviewers are prohibited from any use of the entrusted material during the evaluation, selection, and publication process.

This code of ethics has been elaborated following and adapting the recommendations of
the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
