Abstract

Although the positive effects of music therapy in patients have been widely explored from multiple perspectives to our knowledge, the cognitive transfer from musical stimulation to multidimensional memory activation in Alzheimer's patients has been little addressed. This study involved nine people from an AFA center located in the Community of Madrid, with an age range between 75 and 88 years (M= 81.33, SD= 4.61) of which 55.56% were women. The study provides further insight into the relationship between musical and non-musical memory. In examining the potential impact of music therapy on memory-related challenges in people with Alzheimer's disease, the results suggest that while numerous positive effects of music therapy have been identified in these patients, there remains a notable gap in understanding the cognitive transfer of musical stimulation to multidimensional memory activation in these patients.
