Abstract

Anthropology from the transnational and decolonial perspective helps to complement the theories of International Relations and to map other agents that influence the global policy and transnational social forms. The objective of this work is to explain the role of the radio in the transnational migratory field. We will talk about the experiences of migrants from Latin American and Caribbean living in Madrid and their engagement with social and political struggles through the transnational radio field. This paper analyzes the political and social transnational involvement of migrant actors regarding communication and the social uses that these actors make of the radio as a tool of power and counter-power. We will discuss the history of the radio in Latin America and the Caribbean and understand its transnational potential in various colonial, postcolonial and decolonial contexts.
