Abstract

The present work deals with the spoken/written hybridization phenomena that characterise the written communication between young people using new digital media. A variety of subgenres emerge from the range of these informal interactions, which are definied by a broad set of colloquial features. In spite of supposed “dangers” for the proper and polite usage of the language, these new written genres are considered as a source for the enrichment of the language, at least with respect to its range of diaphasic variation, in a context of global “colloquialization”.
