Abstract

The Italian architect and military engineer Francesco Paciotto da Urbino (1521-1591) not only worked for Phi-lip 11 in Flanders in the 1550s but travelled to Spain in 1562, where he designed at least two projects for the king and his sister, the Princess of Portugal. This paper tries to recover his memories of his Spanish journey from his own Diary and other documents.
