Abstract
In making a general balance of 20th century art, we perceive such big transformations that it is possible to say that the art term has been "reinvented". In this article we intend to make a balance of these changes, by analyzing a few examples relatives to five areas: nature, object, body, artist and spectator. In the final part another five non-full-filled promises are examined: equality, love, personal liberation, democratization of art and ecological disaster.
