Conservation and stabilization treatment applied to numismatic set recovered from the frigate Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes

Abstract

The underwater recovery greater treasure found so far (over 570,000 numismatic silver coins of the frigate Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes), has been a challenge to manage conservation.
The communication will deal with the  conservation actions being carried out, starting with a thorough analytical characterization of coins and corrosion products formed by centuries remain in the seabed.
Management and conservation of the numismatic set, stabilization treatments, desalination and storage are being made and temporary exhibitions, in the field of broadcasting.
