Abstract

Digitalization is an automation of productive tasks that has a differential characteristic over other similar processes that occurred in the past. Unlike the robotization of factories, digitalization occurs mainly in service activities with highly skilled workers, engineers, lawyers, doctors.... The productive application of many new technologies related to Artificial Intelligence (such as data mining, computational statistics or advanced sensor machines, such as vision) has made it possible to differentiate in high-skilled jobs between those tasks that really incorporated knowledge and creativity and others that were mere repetitive operations replaceable by computer programs. Undoubtedly, this reality incorporates a factor of uncertainty for certain social groups that until now were considered safe from automation processes.
