About the Journal
Focus and scope
Secuencias aims to contribute to the dissemination of research articles related to the history of cinema and audiovisual studies in any of its aspects or orientations, carried out in Spain and internationally.
All texts submitted for consideration by the Editorial Board of the Journal must be original works, which have not been previously published in any other written, printed or electronic media. Articles that are being submitted for consideration in any other publication from the time of submission until the journal has decided on their publication will not be accepted.
The journal publishes, in addition to research articles, book reviews, DVD reviews, and online platform reviews. We are sorry we cannot accept reviews suggestions. All reviews are directly commissioned by the Editors.
Peer review process
Secuencias follows a strictly peer double-blind peer review process prior to publication. The review process is divided into the following stages:
Pre-evaluation:
The articles received will go through an "early review" by the Editors of the journal. In this phase, the originality, relevance, and adequacy to the fields of interest, thematic and stylistic of Secuencias will be evaluated. In this process it will be decided whether the text will undergo an external blind peer review. Authors will be notified of this decision within ten weeks of receipt.
External evaluation (peer review):
If the previous evaluation is positive, Secuencias will send the manuscript to two or more anonymous specialists for review. Once the peer reviewers have submitted their evaluation reports, Secuencias will decide on publication. Whether the text is accepted or rejected in external evaluation, the reviewers' evaluations will be sent to the authors.
Review of originals by the authors:
Authors should usually revise their manuscripts based on the comments suggested by the reviewers; only exceptionally will they be published without modification. The revised text will be evaluated by the editorial staff of Secuencias, which will decide whether it should be published. If necessary, a new specialist may be asked for advice on the modifications made by the authors.
Frequency of publication
Secuencias publishes publishes two issues per year.
