Abstract

The concept of human security shares with feminist studies on security its alternative approach to traditional visions of security, basically realistic in orientation. In both cases, the aim is to overcome the state as the only reference and the military as the main sector of security. But this shared objective has not prevented the concept of human security from being lacking when applying the gender approach, both in its theoretical construction and in its practical application. From feminist questions about human security and, in general, about the approach to security from a feminist perspective, we spoke with María Villellas Ariño, an expert in gender and security at the Escola de Cultura de Pau.
