The values in teaching practice and the questions for quality and equity in schools

This report refers to the main results found in an ethnographic research, which deals with the identification of the values that teachers offer to the students through their daily performance, and the analysis of the implications that this matter has in the moral development of their students. Through the observations in classrooms and other school spaces, as well as the analysis based on the socio-anthoropological and psico-pedagogical theoretical approaches, three "routes" were developed to focus the teaching practices of professors in the basic education level: 1) The normative behaviour, which integrates the concrete norms, the abstract norms and the consistence in their application. 2) The affective behaviour, which refers to the "vehicles", this is the different ways in which the teachers transmit the norms, and the affective expressions that are directed to the students. 3) The conduction of the learning processes. This route analyses the "reflection sequences", through academic and moral contents, that professors offer to their students. This research makes evident some mechanisms through which the "living processes" of respect and equity are established in the relationship between teachers and students.
