Abstract
La Educación Secundaria Obligatoria en España atraviesa una doble crisis de identidad: su configuración como nivel educativo específico y la demanda de unos profesionales acordes. Desde este enfoque, se analizan los problemas que, con motivo de las reformas educativas de las últimas décadas, ha tenido su implementación en España y la incidencia recíproca en la crisis de identidad profesional del profesorado. Se señalan líneas para su reconstrucción identitaria como etapa educativa y, paralelamente, para reafirmar la identidad profesional del profesorado.

The compulsory secondary education in Spain.
In the search of an unstable identity
The Compulsory Secondary Education in Spain crosses a double crisis of identity: his configuration like educational specific level and the demand of identical professionals. From this approach, there are analyzed the problems that, owing to the educational reforms of last decades, there has had his implementation in Spain and the reciprocal incidence in the crisis of teachers' professional identity. Essential features could be derived from the analysis for his reconstruction of identity as educational level and, parallel, to reaffirm the secondary teacher's identities.
