  1. Purpose of personal data processing

The data collected from registered and unregistered users of the UAM e-journal portal falls within the scope of the standard operation of peer-reviewed journals. It includes information that enables communication during the editorial process, is used to inform readers about authorship and editing of content, and allows the collection of statistical data on readership.

  1. Addressees

The editorial team of the journals hosted on the UAM e-journal portal uses this data to guide their editorial work. Data that help develop this publishing platform, such as article metrics, may be shared as long as it is done anonymously. The data will not be disclosed by this journal or the Publications Service and will not be used for purposes other than those stated herein. Authors published in this journal are responsible for the accuracy of their personal data.

  1. User’s rights to Access, Rectify and Cancel Personal Data

Those involved in editing this journal seek to be compliant with industry standards for data privacy, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provision for “data subject rights” that include (a) breach notification; (b) right of access; (c) the right to be forgotten; (d) data portability; and (e) privacy by design.   1. Origin and legitimacy of data

The personal data are provided by users during the registration process. Legitimation is through the consent of the data subject. The editorial team is not responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the personal data and reserves the right to rectify or delete false or incorrect data.

We process the personal data you provide to us in accordance with the following legitimacy:

- Article 6.1.b) of the GDPR: processing is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is party or for the implementation at the request of the data subject of pre-contractual measures.

- Article 6.1.c) of the GDPR: processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation applicable to the controller.

- Article 6.1.e) of the GDPR: processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller.

Users are informed of the possibility of exercising their rights (Section 3 "Rights of the data subject in relation to the processing of their personal data") by means of a written request addressed to the editors of the journal or to the Publications Service (erevistas@uam.es).

It is also possible to contact the UAM's Data Protection Delegate at the e-mail address delegada.protecciondedatos@uam.es.

Likewise, we inform our users that if they submit a request for the exercise of these rights and consider that it has not been adequately addressed by our institution, they may file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency in accordance with the procedure provided at the following address:

When the processing of their personal data is based on consent, users have the right to withdraw it.

  1. Cookies

The UAM electronic journals website (revistas.uam.es), owned by the Publications Service of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid communicates to users, through this notice, that it uses cookies when the user accesses the different screens and pages that make up the site. The cookies used by the UAM electronic journals website are stored on the user's hard drive but cannot read data contained thereon nor read the cookies created by other providers.
