Resumen

El sistema educativo uruguayo reúne varias particularidades que lo diferencian de la mayoría de los países de la región. Estas particularidades constituyen un desafío a la hora de pretender hacer un aporte que permita compararlo con otras realidades. Los procesos e instrumentos para acceder a la educación superior forman parte de esos desafíos. La situación uruguaya podría resumirse en pocas líneas, al señalar que en esencia, el sistema universitario tiene libre admisión a ese nivel de estudios una vez que se hayan aprobado con éxito los niveles anteriores de la educación. .Esa simple enumeración encierra en sí la realidad de la situación pero no permite apreciar las razones que han permitido que así se construyera el sistema de educación superior en el país, por lo cual merecen ser destacados en sus aspectos medulares. Este artículo intentará contribuir con la presentación de algunas perspectivas que contraponen la opinión de quienes entienden que el sistema debe permanecer incambiado porque responde a las necesidades y a la esencia nacional, y de aquellos que entienden que esconde inequidades que deben ser superadas.

The Uruguayan education system meets several characteristics that set it apart from most countries in the region.

Those particularities become are a challenge for someone who try to make a case of study that allows comparison with other national situations. The processes and tools for access to higher education are part of those challenges. The Uruguayan situation could be summarized in a few lines, saying in essence, the university system has free admission to that level of education once they have successfully passed the previous levels of education. This simple expression contains within itself the reality of the situation but can not assess the reasons that have allowed and the construction of the higher education system in the country, they deserve to be highlighted in their core aspects. This article will try to help with the presentation of some perspectives that oppose the views of those who understand that the system should remain unchanged because it responds to the needs and the national essence, and those who understand that hides inequities that must be overcome.
