Abstract

The project LIFE SALINAS is a project focused on the conservation of two priority habitats of the EU Habitats Directive and one species included in the Bird Directive. The project is carried out in the northernmost sector of the coast of the Region of Murcia (Spain), concretely on the Regional Park, SPA, SAC “Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar”. One of the lines of the project is the restoration of dunes critically unstable affected by sea (2 ha) through their physical structure reinforcement using Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile leaves washed ashore and reducing off-trail trampling, the restoration of disturbed psammophile habitats planting 16000 seedlings of 23 native species and the control of Invasive Alien Species; mainly Agave americana and Carpobrotus acinaciformis
