Resumen
Los líquenes son asociaciones simbióticas formadas por la unión entre un hongo, llamado micobionte y, al menos, un alga y/o una cianobacteria, denominados fotobionte (Grube & Hawksworth, 2007). Desde un punto de vista evolutivo, la liquenización ha ocurrido en numerosas ocasiones de manera independiente en distintos linajes de hongos en las clases Ascomycota y Basidiomycota (Lücking et al., 2017). Las cerca de 20.000 especies conocidas (Lücking et al. 2017) ocupan alrededor del 8% de la superficie terrestre y las podemos encontrar en todos los ecosistemas terrestres, desde las selvas tropicales hasta zonas polares, y desde las costas hasta las altas montañas (Honegger & Nash, 2008).
