About the Journal

Aims and scope

Biblioteca de Babel: Revista de Filología Hispánica is a research journal established in 2019 within the Spanish Philology Department of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. In its first stage (2019-2022) it published texts about hispanic philology (linguistics and literature). Since 2023 it is specialized in every area of Spanish language and general linguistics: variation, history of language, syncronic linguistics, morphology, phonetics and phonology, syntax, pragmatics, Spanish as foreign languag, discourse analysis, lexicology, lexicography, linguistic theory, translation...

The journal ensures quality publication through the blind peer review process. In addition, the founders have carried out this project with the conviction that authors should always feel cared for and never helpless, so we strive to religiously meet the established deadlines (which are also shorter than normal) so that the publications can be ready in the shortest time possible and hours of hard work pay off. With this in mind, we manage online-first process, in order to achieve a faster publication of the scientific research results.

Since 2022, Biblioteca de Babel lets the authors to publish original audiovidual material with the articles (as interviews, surveys, phonetc recordings, videos...). With this option, not very frequent in academic journals, Biblioteca de Babel establishes itself in the cutting-edge scientific material edition, creating a new publication market in the hispanic linguists comunity.

  • Miscellany: This section is reserved to topic-free articles that researchers send to the journal. Rece`ption of the originals will be possible during the whole year.
  • Reviews: The review section will cover texts submitted directly by the reviewers or with requests of the journal about academic works published one or two years before.
