Abstract
This essay has as its aim the establishment of a link between education and revolution, by considering the Philosophy of Education as an instrument for analysis and social transformation. That is why our field of study will be settled on Iberoamerican soil, where the connection bet ween education and revolution reached its peak during the twentieth century. Three authors will be the ones who will help us weave this interpretative fabric: the Spanish philosopher Joaquín Xirau, the Brazilian pedagogue Paulo Freire, and the Spanish pedagogue José Manuel Esteve. Five knots will be the ones to deal with: the relation between education and individual and social transformation, the analysis of this issue from an ethical perspective of education, the relationship between the educator and the educating, the link between education and freedom, and the mission of education.
