Abstract

The aim of this paper is to outline the concept of human-animal limitrophy as it is outlined by Derrida in his posthumous book L’animal que donc je suis. For that purpose, I focus on the problem of animal gaze, understood as the gaze that the absolutely other can address to the human, highlighting as well the vulnerability as the ontological paradigm of every living corporeality, both animal and human. Thereby, the paper emphasizes the main conceptual issues of Derrida’s radical deconstruction of the ontological dimension of the human subjectivity, as well as it shows this troubling ontological neighborhood between animal and human glimpsed by the idea of limitrophy.
