Abstract

The archaeozoological and taphonomic study of the faunal assemblages recovered at Cova de les Malladetes provides outstanding information on the origin of the accumulations. The location of this cave and the characteristics of the environment allow the development of predation practices focused mainly on the Spanish ibex, the species best represented in the stratigraphic sequence discovered during excavations at this site. Carnivores and humans compete for this ungulate and are responsible for their accumulations in various phases of occupation.
