Abstract

In this paper information about grease and marrow exploitation is analyzed for two archaeological sites from southern Mendoza. The aim of this study is to search for changes in the use of these resources during the intensification process stated for the region. In addition, we want to assess if the incorporation of ceramics for that moment also implies changes in the way that grease and marrow were obtained. Comparative analyses between assemblages with dates before and after that process showed that, even though there is some changes in favour of a more intensive bone processing, those variations are not large enough to defend changes in the strategies of this procurement activity during the whole Holocene.
