Abstract
This article presents the results of the analysis of fish remains from the Stone Age site at Dabki, situated on the western part of the coast of northern Poland. Most of the archaeoichthyological samples were excavated from an inshore refuse layer in a peat bog and some samples were from a protoneolithic1 settlement on the former lake shore. A total of 18 ichthyological taxa were identified–16 freshwater and 2 migratory. The study showed that, despite the site’s relatively close proximity to the seacoast, the fishing economy had a local character and probably concentrated on the freshwaters of the nearest lake.
