We present the analysis of faunal remains associated with two main buildings of
a colony situated in the Roman Province of Baetica; the macellum and an Iberian-Roman sanctuary, both discovered at the archaeological site of Torreparedones (Baena- Córdoba). Zooarchaeological contexts in the macellum are interpreted as accumulations related to the active life of the market. The most important context, associated with phase II-III of the building, is composed of a large spill in contact with its outer western wall, formed mostly by cattle remains which have been dated between the first half of the 1st century and the last third of the 2nd century AD. The most interesting contexts found at the sanctuary are documented in soils formed during the operative life of a first temple, throughout the 2nd and 1st centuries BC. The study of both sets has great interest as it is one of the few works carried out about a commercial building and at a sanctuary of Indigenous tradition located in Baetica province, integrated in the interpretation of the diachronic evolution of both buildings and about well- known contexts and well-defined areas of landfill.
