Abstract
This paper provides new data about The Family of Philip V of the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso (Segovia), a copy of the original painted in 1743 by Louis- Michel van Loo. It extends the information about its execution in the middle of the 19th century by the painter Isidoro Lozano (Logroño, 1826-Madrid, 1895), in the context of the artistic promotion of the young disciple of Federico de Madrazo, who was awarded the Rome Prize in 1853; and documents its transfer to La Granja on July 23, 1852, rolled up in a carriage of the Royal Stables, under the supervision of Severiano Marín who held the position of Second Restorer of the Royal Museum of Paintings and was responsible for the unpacking, preparation and placement of the great family canvas.
