Abstract
The continuity of the presence of architects and master masons in the Santiago de los Españoles church and hospital throughout the Renaissance shows the changes in the role of the architectural builders in Rome. The architects Bernardo Rossellino, Donato Bramante, Perino da Caravaggio, Antonio da Sangallo, Guillermo Ferrán and Flaminio Ponzio presents in Santiago de los Españoles are an example in the development of the renaissance architect's personality between 1450 and 1600. Indeed the Spanish artists presents in Rome and others Italian masters form a coherent artistic working group. The study of original documents changes the traditional artistic attributions and chronology of Santiago de los Españoles church.
