Abstract

From the items obtained in the magazine "Arte Joven" founded by Picasso in Madrid in 1901 and barely used as a documentary source for the knowledge of his youth, the author analyses the artistic and aesthetic ideas of a young Picasso that refer to two main axes: the respect -as in Goethe- to the "eternal youngs" authority and the acceptation of the modern tendencies, as shown in Baudelaire, inside the realistic painting tradition, but far (he paints by heart and with artificial light) from the naturalistic and impressionist tendencies -as Sorolla- then in vogue.
