Abstract
In this paper the authoress makes an iconographical and stylistic approach to the tympanum of the west doorway of Sant Pol church at Sant Joan de les Abedesses (Girona). As the subject of this tympanum is the "Traditio Legis", reference is made to the evolution of this iconographic subject, and to the iconographical and iconological differences that we can see between the "Traditio Legis" of Early Christian and Romanesque art. As refers to the meaning of this tympanum. The authoress thinks that this Tradition is connected with the interference of the secular power into the clerical matters belonging to the abbey of Sant Joan de les Abadesses. Finally, concerning the stylistic approach to this tympanum. It could be said that the workshop that was at work in it is related to those who worked in the Southwest tympanum of Sant Joan de les Abadesses Abbey and with those who worked in some sculptures of the west doorway of Santa María de Ripoll.
