Abstract

The idea behind this article is to look through the biography of the hitherto little known architect, Pedro Juan Laviesca de la Torre, active from 1716 to 1749. From his work in Castellón, we try to reconstruct his formative years in Valencia under the protection of a stonecutter family and his move to Seville with the guidance of the intendent Rodrigo Caballero. There, in Seville, he assumed the duties of Maester builder of the city, Master of the old tobacco factories and Diocesan Architect. This treatment will allow us to discover several unpublished works of the master and his great library.
