Abstract

Between 1418 and 1424 a Florentine sculptor works on the relieves of the rear part of the choir in the cathedral of Valencia. This sculptor - whose name was "Julià Florentí", as many documents reveal - has traditionally been identified with Giuliano di Giovanni da Poggibonsi, a disciple of Ghiberti. A few years later; between 1431 and 1434, another Florentine sculptor known as Julià Nofre carries out some work in the cathedral of Barcelona. The stylistic confrontation between the works of art in Valencia and Barcelona led to the appearance of a hypothesis identifying Julià Florentí from Valencia with Julià Nofre.
