Abstract
Archbishop Francisco Antonio Lorenzana continued with the works already started by his predecessor at Toledo’s Cathedral. Well aware of the masonry of the Cathedral, the Archbishop decided to accomplish an ambitious plan that would allow a complete restoration of the Cathedral. Ventura Rodriguez's controversial design of the Cathedral's façade provoked the adoption of a series of rules that would be applied to future renovations. Over the older "canteado" from the 16th Century, a new masonry was set-up between 1774 and 1775 that would give the inside a uniform aspect, as seen today. The next restoration plans will concentrate on the Cathedral's vaults and will be undertaken by GEOCISA, Geotecnia y Cimientos, S.A. is highly committed to carry out a profound study on the Cathedral's vaults so as to make sure historical legacy is meticulously respected.
