Abstract
In this work we try to reconstruct, on the basis of several documents, the origin, the authorship and the pantheon of the chapel of La Piedad, located in the former convent of Saint Francisco de Ávila. We would like to remark on two circumstances, one the contribution of Juan Guas both to the structure and the carvings which cover a funeral body (tomb) with two figures and several tombstones that, although now missing, allow us to establish a comparative live with other outstanding pieces attributed to this great master; the other being the fact that the funeral chapel belongs to one of the most significant families of Ávila, the Águilas de Serrada. Finally we seek to open the first chapter to the complete study of the monastery, a masterpiece built at the end of the XV century and the beginning of the XVI.
