Abstract
The present stydy analyses the possesions of Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, count of Saldaña, son and heir of IV duke of Infantado. The methodology employed focuses on the description of the different objects ownwd by Hurtado de Mendoza, especially images, books and weapons, and on the interpretation of the meaning, use and significance of such items. The main ends of this text are to know the level of understanding of the Renaissance culture achieved by Hurtado de Mendoza, and to develop a comparative analysis with the "collection" of one of the nobles of his day
