Abstract
This article analyzes two manuscript atlases of Gabriele Merelli, dedicated to Sicily and unknown to Spanish historiography. The first one, currently unpublished, is dedicated to Viceroy Anielo de Guzmán Marquis of Castel Rodrigo. Its genesis has been reconstructed in relation to the institutional-political context of war events of the revolt of Messina (1674-1678). This atlas is compared to a second one by the same author dated several months later and donated to the Viceroy Juan José de Austria.
