Abstract
The celebration of the Barcelona´s International Exhibition in 1929 meant the creation of new cultural and social industry and infrastructures. In this sense, how did this event echoed in Tarragona? In this study, we analize the presence of Tarragona as the origin of culture in the Iberian Peninsula through the exhibition ‘Art in Spain’. We also study the city's representation as a tourist attraction. Then, we revise the preservation of Roman remains to provide evidence of inconsistent policies in the area. For example, there have been significant investments for the construction of the Archaeological Park or the Forum. However, the Church of Miracle or the Paleo- Christian Cemetery have been lost due to the idleness of institutions. Finally, we find that despite the strong presence of Roman architecture and sculptural decoration, it did not affect the new buildings of that time, however some formulations of the Barcelona pavilions were reproduced in Tarragona.
