Abstract

This paper has as main goal to show the remodeling done in Barcelona’s Minor Royal Palace in the XVI century promoted by Requesens Family. It is worth highlighting the ones made by the Palamós Countess, Hipólita Roís de Liori, which affects as much some main rooms in the palace, as the Chapel itself. Furthermore, in this article we are trying to clarify who was the person in charge of some of the remodeling and in what consisted of. This process of reforms was continued by the Countess’ successors, specifically her grandson Luis de Requesens. In this research, it is offered new documentation that shows technical, economical and administrative data related to the reform Luis de Requesens wanted to carry out in the palace, after establishing contact with Giovvanni Battista Castello in Genoa. It is also remarkable the new information about personal aspects of the Requesens family as their wishes and interests in ennobling and embellishing the patrimony received form their ancestors.
