Abstract
This paper studies the narratives in the rhetorical discourse. Concretely, it has been analized literary and journalistic texts write by Francisco Umbral about the failure coup d’état in 23th of febraury of 1981 in the spanish Parliament. The corpus of study has been conformed by the novel Y Tierno Galvan ascendió a los cielos and Umbral’s newspaper articles published the days after the coup d’état. In conclusion, a common integrated pattern of meaning are revealed that is related with the universal narratives patterns in the comedy plot. For this reason, we argue that the historical period, called in spanish «Transición» (transition) was told with the comic patterns, an narrative solution less traumatic, for instances, that the tragedy.
