Abstract
The present study aims to reflect on the dualistic conception of the work of Gil Vicente in the Auto of the Barca de Inferno where the discernment between Evil and Good ponder as necessary elements for the atonement of sins. Starting from the motto ridendo castigat mores and because life is theater, Gil Vicente set out to characterize certain aspects of his contemporary society, favoring a lively shrewd analysis through the critical gaze on certain type characters, representatives of certain social strata and varied socioeconomic characteristics.
