Los roles de masculinidad-feminidad como determinantes de la participación de los padres en la educación formal de sus hijos. pp. 209-246

Resumen

Tratamos de conocer si se dan o no, diferencias en el modo de implicarse los padres y las madres en la problemática escolar de sus hijos. Se aplicaron sendos cuestionarios para padres, para madres y para profesores a una muestra disponible de 619 madres, 520 padres y 89 profesores de centros educativos de Canarias. Los datos se redujeron mediante análisis factoriales destacando en su estructura un primer factor de rechazo claro a la escuela y a la función del profesorado en los datos de padres, y un primer factor de desconfianza hacia la participación de padres, en los datos de profesores. Ese mismo rechazo con deseo de dejar la problemática educativa bajo la responsabilidad del cónyuge, se manifiesta en otros factores de la estructura factorial en aquellos padres cuyos hijos fracasan en la escuela. Mientras que aparecen factores de aceptación y apoyo a la escuela y a la labor de los profesores por parte de padres cuyos hijos van bien en sus estudios. Los resultados ponen de manifiesto el divorcio existente en la comunidad educativa entre padres y profesores lo que resulta perjudicial para el buen funcionamiento de los centros e impide aumentar la calidad de la enseñanza.
