Abstract

The building of barracks in the XIX century detached as one of the mast important samples of architecture during that moment; not only of necessity of them but also for the creation and diffusion of numerous projects. To demostrate this point of view we have done extensive research analysis of vast material coming from the two most important military engineer committees summoned in Spain during the years 1847 and 1888. Examination of which we can inform the studies relating to "Barrack-Types" realized by these commissions had risen to the height of the works done by the rest of the European Countries, having affinity and similarity of yardstick between all of them to plan a quarters' system which satisfy without any handicap all necessities of the army's lodging and carry out completely the norms of hygiene and health. It can be seen in the board pattern book offered by this kind of military projects, which allow to set forth an evolution about the systems and different types of plan, depending on a specific function in connection with a particular constructive technique and an aesthetic concept.
