Abstract

The miraculous painting of Santo Domingo in Soriano obtained so reputation that several copies of it, or a variety of representations of the Virgin appearing in Soriano, were made very soon. Among those painted in Madrid there are some painted by Juan Bautista Maino and another one of Vicente Carducho. Their veneration was fomented with endowed specific chapels, like that designed by Juan Gómez de Mora for Santo Domingo el REal. And their transportation and placing in their altars was carried out with public celebrations because of the great worship.
